As a former public school educator and administrator, Lisa McLaughlin, Founder and Executive Director, understands the importance of educating students and families about the college admissions process. Our knowledgeable and professional counselors are available to assist in the planning of college nights, admissions presentations, workshops and seminars. "Intro to College Admissions"
In this introductory workshop, students and parents will learn the "Top Ten Myths about College Selection" and gain a stronger understanding about the timeline for preparing for college admissions. A basic overview of the admissions process including when to take and how to register for various college entrance examinations and a general calendar for preparing college applications will be discussed. Various resources will be shared and time will also be reserved for a question and answer session from the audience.

"Prioritizing Factors to Choose the 'Right' College"
In this hands-on workshop students and parents will discover the multitude of factors that should go into their college selection decision. They will evaluate the importance of these factors, answer relevant questions, learn how to prioritize them, and engage in a structured conversation that opens the dialogue about the importance of choosing the right college for the student's needs.

"Making the Most of High School Resources"
Understanding the course offerings, extra-curricular opportunities, and resources at your high school can only broaden your learning and therefore, your post-secondary options. Learn how to make the most of your high school's vast resources.

"Developing Positive Relationships with Teachers"
Teachers and other staff members are some of the most influential mentors of adolescents. Learn how building positive, working relationships with teachers is to the student's advantage in college admissions.

"College Admissions: Dispelling the Myths"
Being admitted to the college of your choice is now more competitive than ever before. However, the process does not need to be a stressful, anxiety ridden one. In this session, we will discuss the "Top Ten Myths about College Selection" and ease your mind if you are thinking "I'll never get in!"

"Planning the Best College Visits: Making the Most of Your Time on Campus"
Visiting college campuses is more than about evaluating the buildings and what takes place in them. Learn how to make the most of your time on prospective college campuses, how to correctly plan worthwhile visits, what takes place on college Preview Days, and how to analyze whether or not a college is the right "fit."

"The College Application Essay"
The application essay is an opportunity for students to share with the admissions officers information not addressed elsewhere in the application. In this session, students will learn what committees look for in an applicant's essay and how to use their own personal voice, writing style, and personal experience to show who they really are and why colleges should accept them.

"How to Build Your Activities and Honors Resume"
In this hands-on session, students will leave with a solid draft of their activities and honors resume in hand. Younger students will learn how to increase their post-secondary options by deepening their extra-curricular interests and understanding what colleges are looking for in applicants.

"Deciding Where to Apply: Building the Best College List"
Deciding where to apply to college should not be like rolling a pair of dice! In this one hour seminar, students and parents will learn about how to build the best college list. The college list building process will be demonstrated and resources will be shared on how to construct a well-rounded, yet specific college list, based on student's preferences and priorities. Building the right list means finding more universities where your child will feel happy and successful! There are so many four year college options, for all types of students! Whether your child has a 2.5 GPA or a 4.0 GPA, there are great matches out there-you just need to decide where to apply! Don't miss the opportunity to see college list building in action!

"Motivating Your Child to Stay the Course for College Admissions"
Understanding "the big picture," regarding life after secondary education is a tremendous challenge for adolescents. In this session, students and parents will learn about the trends in college admissions, how to stay motivated when there are thousands of four year universities across the nation, how to expand your post-secondary options, and what to do over the summer to stay the course. Statistics and articles related to the value of a college education will also be shared.
