Cassandra Nichols
College Counselor

Following graduation, Cassandra spent five months traveling through Europe, Africa, and Asia, including completing a Spanish language immersion course in Seville, Spain. Upon her return in 2003, Cassandra settled in New Haven, Connecticut and conducted educational research at Yale University, studying leadership in the college environment. Much of her research was administered on college campuses, including Yale, Connecticut College, and University of Oregon.
In 2004, Cassandra joined the English faculty at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut, where she taught American and world literature to high school juniors and seniors. It was at Choate that Cassandra began teaching seminars on the college personal statement and helping her students in their search for the right college and in the application process. All of her students earned acceptances to top schools, including Yale, UPenn, Williams, USC, Princeton, Duke, NYU, and more.
After two years of teaching at Choate, Cassandra returned to her hometown of Santa Barbara and earned a Masters degree in Education from University of California, Santa Barbara. While at UCSB, Cassandra taught freshman composition courses for UCSB’s Writing Program and conducted extensive research on the teaching of writing and literature. In January of 2008, she co-produced and co-directed an educational documentary on the 2008 presidential election, entitled Mile High: How to win…and lose…the White House.
With years of experience behind her in teaching, coaching and conducting research at both high school and college levels, Cassandra understands how significant the college admissions process is for both students and parents. She works with EDvantage clients in Orange County, providing academic guidance, athletic recruiting advice, and college selection and application assistance.
